Update on free of tax arrangements from SDSTeam

Dear Developer,
We have published an updated version of the ‘Specification for PAYE Tax Table Routines for Free of Tax (FOT) arrangements version 4.0’ which you can access from this page https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/payroll-technical-specifications-income-tax
This latest specification now incorporates ‘payrolled benefits in kind’ and the appendix has been updated to include the Scottish rates/bandwidths for 17/18.

Update from HMRC on Apprentices

The government is now making a number of changes to apprenticeships in England, including how they are funded. Since 6 April 2017 employers operating in the UK, with an annual pay bill of more than £3 million (and some connected companies and charities with pay bills less than this amount) have started paying the apprenticeship levy.

If you are a levy-paying employer you can access funds raised by the levy. If you are a non-levy paying employer, 90% of your apprenticeship training and assessment costs in England will be paid for by the government.

Further information

•    Think about how you could use apprenticeships in your organisation
•    There is an updated guide for employers on how you will pay the levy
•    If you are a levy paying employer, you can register for the apprenticeship service to manage your apprenticeship programme.
